Welcome Minister, Judi McElroy's Newsletter article

It kept thinking about this on my drive home from church. On the way, I passed the tall crane that stands on the new foundation of the medical building addition. Then, I passed several houses in town under renovation and restoration. Everywhere I looked things were "under construction" at some level.

As I thought more about this analogy of building construction and faith, I realized it's OK to be a work in progress. We can all add new blocks of faith to our spiritual house, shore up our foundation and add new levels of faith. Worshiping and listening to the word of God keeps our foundation strong. It shores up our faith. Bible study and prayer strengthens and restore us and help keep our inner spiritual house strong.

In addition, I recognize how sharing the strength on my foundation and building blocks, my strengths and gifts, enhances my spiritual life. It is the message of James (James 1:22-26) that we must put our faith in action. When each of us shares our unique gifts and talents, it reinforces our faith and helps us share God's love.
